The iSchool

Clearly, the human civilization is still evolving. Technology that in the past seemed like absolute Science fiction is very much reality today. The iPads were a very interesting experience in school. Quite a lot of activities that are hard to do on regular pen and pencil were possible on the iPads, although there are some limitations to the iPads that would have been better on paper and pencil like taking notes. Being able to access the internet and still be doing work on the iPads was an interesting experience. If the whole school had iPads and used it for everything, it would probably be hard to monitor the activity that the student body would produce. It would lag and maybe even crash the routers but I guess just like the evolution of us now having iPads in the school then it might mean that we would be able to get better internet. the access of iPads in the school would mean that quite a lot of improvements would surface. Just like the ability to multi-task on the iPad. But it might also mean ,more distractions. The iPads, if not monitored would be a huge source of distraction to the students.

Even if you find a way to block it, they will still try to find a way around it. Even though there are a lot of negative effect, I think that there a some positive ones too. The iPads give a a great source of information to the students which would improve their work. The iPads have apps that would be both fun and educational like Al Gore's Our Choice. Quite a lot of things can be achieved on the iPads that can't be done without. It also saves paper which would contribute a positive effect on the environment. The iPads were fun and I liked this class. -Fin

Bigfoot - The Beast

Big foot is a world wide phenomenon that has been thought of as a myth. I wouldn't consider Big foot a fact but it is indeed sketchy on his existence. Bigfoot is thought to be a creature living deep within the mountains but my question is: Why haven't we seen him? It's been many years since The so called "Beast" was first heard of. Why haven't we caught him yet? We have the technology today that should help us at least get a clear picture of it. But we still have not found the mythical creature. And even if we do find a picture of him, how are we sure that it isn't just a group of people messing with us? Big foot is such a well known topic that we are not too sure about digital evidence. We would need live evidence of the beast. Might this be why Big foot is so controversial? Or is it the fact that he is very paradoxical? That the creature just seems so impossible to find. Should those who hunt him just give up now? Or is the discovery of him the holy grail of all discoveries? That might be cancer but that's off topic.

Distillations-Podcast

Distillations is a podcast for people who are interested in science that have world wide implications. It has not been updated very recently which might make the information outdated, but it is still good to listen to older episodes. The Host speaks very clearly in addressing the topics and introducing guests. The sounds and effects used in transition feel very calm and smooth. The topics they talk about range from interesting to just funny ones. I rate this podcast an 8/10

Nova: Science Now.

Nova, is a podcast that talks about a variety of topics related to any scientific discoveries in the latest days or any worth while topics in the fields of science. The podcast is no longer running based on the fact that the latest episode is in August of 2011. Even though, that doesn't make it not worth your while. The host of the podcast was not really named but he talks in a way that you can follow through but not be bored in time. The sound quality is very professional. You can clearly hear the speaker without any background noise in the podcast. They lack In the sound effects category, but they have really mellow music that calms you when he talks. The topics they discussed were very interesting. Life on Mars is what they were debating on which very much fascinated me. I give it an 8/10 in terms of overall ratings.

Water fountains.

For the past couple of weeks I have been eating lunch and feeling parched at the end of every lunch. I refuse to buy or bring water bottles and I always forget to use my stainless steel one and it got me thinking. Why is there no water fountain in the cafeteria? All I see is a vending machine. I know that some people like what's in the machine but what about people who don't have monety at the moment? Water fountains should be more common in schools and if it is, much cleaner. Some water fountains are new and clean, but a lot of them are old and stain ridden and don't even give a high flow of water. Even though these water fountains gives clean water, most people would just think the water is filthy kid the fountainnis. The perception of water fountains is that, if the fountain was dirty, the water will be too. This was not necessarily true but most people believe in that. That is why I think that schools should invest more on water fountains. The only reason why these fountains are not getting used are because they look dirty. They should also have policies with them like do'nt use it to clean your shoes. The reasons why water fountains aren't very popular with students.

One post before school starts.

It's 9:30 right now and I wanted to make one post on the blog before school starts again. I don't really have anything planned for this post but I'm just going to have a go at it. Well, first of all, it looks like tests *ahem* exams are coming soon and I don't really feel ANY pressure at all! Maybe because I only have I think 3 subjects that might require an exam so that means quite a lot of time for me to wander around during exam week. Something I want to do though is try to get one of my subjects to be changed to French so that means 4 subjects. Anyways, this is a short post so I'm going to stop typing. If you found this amusing or even readable in any way, thanks for reading. PEACE!
